Billboard Jargon

One thing I have never gotten into is the texting jargon, i.e. "U" instead of "you." "4ever" as opposed to "forever." "Luv" instead of "love." Etc. Well, now the world of texting is even spreading to businesses. This is my featured sign for the week, do you know what it means? Well, I'll interpret it for you.

The first one says:
"10 Acres/2Homes
Irr. Water Live Sp"

What it translates to:
"Ten acres with two homes. Irrigation water and live spring"

The second reads:
"Modular on 5 irr. ac. no cov."

Which translates to:
"Modular home on 5 irrigated acres. Has A/C and no covenant"

Watch out world, KW is bringing txt jargon to the world!

Montrose: All-American City Award

This is so exciting, the Montrose Daily Press  announced today that "Montrose was the first of 10 communities designated as an All-America City on Sunday by the National Civic League at its 2013 expo at the Grand Hyatt Hotel in Denver."Check out the full article here

So happy to live and work in this beautiful town!

Oh, and for the record, Montrose was the ONLY city in Colorado to achieve this award. The other winners according to The Denver Post are: "Birmingham, Ala.; Downey, Calif.; Peoria, Ill.; Dubuque, Iowa; Owensboro, Ky.; Dunn, N.C.; Garner, N.C.; Thomasville, N.C.; and Norfolk, Va." You can find the Denver Post article here.

Rain, Rain, Go Away

The cloudy skies have corrupted my view of the San Juans, and have me feeling a little blue. But, Montrose, CO continues to offer great things, such as the local coffee shop, The Coffee Trader. I love to sit out on their porch, and use their wifi--even when it's raining.

Anyway, I've begun a car hunt, and I've got my eyes set on the Dodge Durango. Speaking of Durango, it's only a couple hour drive from Montrose, CO. I love going there for a few day break over the summer.

Does anyone have a Dodge Durango? I'm looking at a 2013 model. Thoughts?

Xeriscaping

I was reading an article a couple of months ago which was featured in Montrose, CO's own Daily Press, and thought I would share some interesting tips it had!

First, the definition of xeriscaping. Kinsley writes, "The term xeriscape comes from the Greek term "xeros" meaning dry and is not 'zero-scaping' or the lack of landscaping. The term was coined in 1981 by the Denver Water Department, and use of the term has spread throughout most arid regions in the west."

Essentially, I think the balance of grass and stone makes an excellent statement, and if it saves money, I'm all for it!

I found these picture on the website, Waterwise--you can find it here.

What do you think about xeriscaping? Does your future home make use of this concept?
