At the booth. Stop by for some great tips!

Here is the schedule in case you need it.

Don't miss out, there is only a week left to enjoy the Montrose County Fair, in beautiful Montrose, CO. Stop by the booth and say hello!

Meet Me in St. Louis, Louis, Meet Me at the Fair

Ok, so St. Louis is a little far to travel to a fair, especially when Montrose, CO has a pretty spectacular one of it's own. How do you know this, you might ask? Well, because I have been attending it for quite a while, as both a participant (I showed horses as a teenager) and as an observer. Yes friends, before my wonderful job at The Real Estate Store, I was once upon a time, a girl who embraced the ranch and farming lifestyle.  Though I prefer my current lifestyle as a real estate agent at one of the new and budding agencies in Montrose, I still enjoy a good trip to Montrose's County Fair.
Yes, that's me,  a few (okay, more than a few) years ago.
I have been attending the fair in Montrose, CO for so long that even my children have participated in it.
Stephanie, showing her ewe.
My three children participated in everything from the children's tractor pulling, to showing sheep.

The fair has always been one of my favorite events, as a community is brought together. There are so many activities, so don't fool yourself into it's not for me. There is a Kid Day, and, drumroll please: a BACON day! Check out the whole line up, and look for me and some exciting opportunities at the Real Estate Store booth. I won't meet you in St. Louis, but I will meet you at the fair!

Symmetry, Stories and more!

Do you like symmetry? How about a good story? Well, you all know my passion for my job, especially since I've moved to The Real Estate store, which is downtown Montrose, but I have another deep seated passion. It's for quilts.

I have been quilting since the early years of my life (which I refuse to reveal to you how long that has actually been). My children each have received at least one special quilt over their life, to commemorate special moments. My grandchildren (darnit, I am revealing more than I planned) each have a special quilt to illustrate their personalities. My husband has a special quilt to demonstrate some of his passions. And I, of course, have a good dozen or so of quilts. Some of them are older, passed down from generation to generation. Some are newer, to reflect some of my new favorite color schemes or pattern ideas.

But my collection pales in comparison to the selection which will be on display at the Black Canyon Quilt Show.

This beautiful quilt is this year's featured raffle quilt.

Don't wait to check this show out, it will blow your mind with Montrose and surrounding area's amazing talent. The theme this year is "Traditional with a Twist." The show premiers at the Montrose Pavillion, and will start on July 11th through the 13th. Don't miss out on this annual event! Check out the Black Canyon Quilt Show's webpage for more information.

Fairy Tale Houses

Since I was a kid, I've grown up with fairy tales such as Snow White and Cinderella.  My children grew up with Little Mermaid, and Mulan. I still find myself drawn to those Disney movies, including the most recent one, and Academy Award Winner Frozen.

What does my little tirade on princess movies have to do with real estate? Well, this house is, in my opinion, worthy of a Princess of Montrose, Colorado. The house is immaculate, and has a three car garage for all of your horse-powered modes of transportation.

Check out this little gem for yourself, and don't wait--I can't promise it will be here long!

Spring Forward!

Don't forget that Daylight Savings is coming to an end... or is it beginning? Regardless, I repeat to myself the timeless saying to help me remember: "Spring Forward and Fall Behind."

Montrose, Colorado has a few iconic clocks to help its citizens. One which I count on is at the Wells Fargo building on Mainstreet. It helps ensure I am on time to my coffee date at the Coffee Trader, or to a listing appointment.

So, don't let the "I forgot" blues ruin your Monday morning plans. I'm planning on setting my clocks ahead Saturday night.

Billboard Jargon

One thing I have never gotten into is the texting jargon, i.e. "U" instead of "you." "4ever" as opposed to "forever." "Luv" instead of "love." Etc. Well, now the world of texting is even spreading to businesses. This is my featured sign for the week, do you know what it means? Well, I'll interpret it for you.

The first one says:
"10 Acres/2Homes
Irr. Water Live Sp"

What it translates to:
"Ten acres with two homes. Irrigation water and live spring"

The second reads:
"Modular on 5 irr. ac. no cov."

Which translates to:
"Modular home on 5 irrigated acres. Has A/C and no covenant"

Watch out world, KW is bringing txt jargon to the world!

Montrose: All-American City Award

This is so exciting, the Montrose Daily Press  announced today that "Montrose was the first of 10 communities designated as an All-America City on Sunday by the National Civic League at its 2013 expo at the Grand Hyatt Hotel in Denver."Check out the full article here

So happy to live and work in this beautiful town!

Oh, and for the record, Montrose was the ONLY city in Colorado to achieve this award. The other winners according to The Denver Post are: "Birmingham, Ala.; Downey, Calif.; Peoria, Ill.; Dubuque, Iowa; Owensboro, Ky.; Dunn, N.C.; Garner, N.C.; Thomasville, N.C.; and Norfolk, Va." You can find the Denver Post article here.

Rain, Rain, Go Away

The cloudy skies have corrupted my view of the San Juans, and have me feeling a little blue. But, Montrose, CO continues to offer great things, such as the local coffee shop, The Coffee Trader. I love to sit out on their porch, and use their wifi--even when it's raining.

Anyway, I've begun a car hunt, and I've got my eyes set on the Dodge Durango. Speaking of Durango, it's only a couple hour drive from Montrose, CO. I love going there for a few day break over the summer.

Does anyone have a Dodge Durango? I'm looking at a 2013 model. Thoughts?

Xeriscaping

I was reading an article a couple of months ago which was featured in Montrose, CO's own Daily Press, and thought I would share some interesting tips it had!

First, the definition of xeriscaping. Kinsley writes, "The term xeriscape comes from the Greek term "xeros" meaning dry and is not 'zero-scaping' or the lack of landscaping. The term was coined in 1981 by the Denver Water Department, and use of the term has spread throughout most arid regions in the west."

Essentially, I think the balance of grass and stone makes an excellent statement, and if it saves money, I'm all for it!

I found these picture on the website, Waterwise--you can find it here.

What do you think about xeriscaping? Does your future home make use of this concept?

2 Closings in a Week

Wow, I have been so busy! Montrose, CO is just booming! While parts of the state are getting snow, we are warm and sunny. Anyway, I just closed on two listings this week, and it's only Wednesday! I'm exhausted, but wanted to check in! Time for a nap, I think. :)

Webbed by Daniel goes Big

My son, Daniel, has been my personal tech guy. And let me just say, it's pretty awesome to have your own 24/hour troubleshooter. Not everyone can have that, but now he has decided to open up some of his services to other realtors.

You can find him at his website, www.webbedbydaniel.net to see what he can do for you!

My new office!

I've been with Keller Williams for a couple of years, and in the same office. It's remarkable, actually, how your work space can affect your mood. I'm happy to share, I've finally upgraded! Same office, but new furniture, and I am EXCITED to go to work.

What do you think? I am crazy about the accent wall color, and my desk  allows me to see all of my clients.

Come say hi!

I've won an award!

I am so excited, I just won Keller William's "Highest Individual Producer" award for 2012! This is big, it means that I sold a lot of properties this past year. I also got a Keller Williams Bronze medallion. These are the perfect accents for my new office which I finally got furnished the way I want (hence why I was so busy this past few days!).

My daughter and my grand daughter are visiting Montrose this week, and I we have had so much fun visiting all of our favorite places, and I am still managing to get some work in as well!
